“I’ve never lived in a house this wonderful, anywhere. It will be very hard to leave this house.”
These are Cathy's exact words when she describes the unique piece of property that she and her husband bought in Arizona. Guessed what is it? It's a cave, folks. Yes, one of those which our ancestors used as dwelling places during their time. But Cathy's cave home is nothing like a prehistoric cave. Theirs is absolutely stunning, and when you get to explore everything inside, you will fall in love and never want to leave.
This idea of a cave home started when Cathy and her husband heard a massive explosion down the road while they were looking for a suitable place to build their house. The source of the explosion? A mining engineer who happened to be their neighbor was blowing out the inside of a huge rock to build a cave home. This inspired the couple to pursue the idea.
Their 2,568 square feet home of a cave is complete with a kitchen, a dining room, a living room, a loft bed, three bedrooms, and high ceilings. The best part? Their deck overlooks the entire mountain range and they have a spring inside that can produce 20 gallons of clean water filtered through 80 feet of granite. Sounds absolutely perfect! Not only does it feel safe, their home is also cozy and unique! You will definitely want one, too!
