A group of Filipino researchers has claimed that virgin coconut oil could help destroy the coronavirus.
KAMI learned that the experiment using virgin coconut oil showed promising results after.
As reported by ABS-CBN News (authored Davinci Maru), Dr. Jaime C. Montoya, executive director of the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD), claimed that the experiment they conducted showed that the virgin coconut oil was able to destroy the coronavirus.
"The results are very promising, as not only does it show that the VCO, by itself, can destroy the virus, but it also has a key mechanism in upregulating the immune response against COVID-19,” he said.
“Indeed, we look forward to the results of clinical trials on the various uses of VCO as an adjunct for the treatment of COVID-19,” he added.
In a report by Philippine Daily Inquirer, Science Secretary Fortunato de la Peña clarified that further investigation is needed to develop a possible cure or prevention against COVID-19.
“We aim to give Filipinos hope through our ongoing local research initiatives,” he said.
