Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte recently announced that she will be taking an 8-day leave.
KAMI learned that Mayor Sara cited medical reasons behind her said break.
In a Facebook post by the City Government of Davao, it was announced that Sara’s younger brother, Vice Mayor Baste Duterte, will be in charge for the meantime.
Mayor Sara is expected to start her leave of absence on September 28, 2020, until October 5, 2020.
However, the Davao City Mayor will still be present in her online meetings to meet the deadlines for her office.
“She will be out of town for medical purposes. She is continuously present online to meet deadlines for her office. Thank you,” it said in the announcement.
Born on May 31, 1978, Sara Duterte-Carpio is a lawyer and a politician. She is the first daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte and the incumbent Mayor of Davao City.
Earlier, Mayor Sara announced that 40 passengers in a flight from Metro Manila tested positive for COVID-19 when they arrived in Davao City.
She explained that there has been an increase with the arriving cases in Davao and they tried to address it by having a laboratory in the airport to test the passengers immediately.
Meanwhile, Facebook previously shut down “fake” accounts that were made to support President Duterte and Mayor Sara’s possible presidential bid in 2022.
