Boxing icon Senator Manny Pacquiao announced that he would be shouldering the expenses for using TV channels for the distance learning of the Department of Education (DepEd).

KAMI learned that Senator Pacquiao wanted to help the students and their parents amid the COVID-19 crisis.

In a report by Manila Bulletin (authored by Mario Casayuran), Pacquiao shared that he understands the struggles of the students and parents to study during a pandemic.

“Galing ako sa hirap kaya alam ko ang nararamdaman ng mga mag-aaral at mga magulang nila,’’ Pacquiao said.

“Alam ko din na hindi pa 100% coverage yang internet natin sa Pilipinas, kaya kahit me pambili ka ng laptop o gadget, hindi ka pa din nakakaseguru na aabot sayo ang mga aralin buhat sa DepEd,’’ he added.

As reported by GMA News (authored by Jon Viktor Cabuenas), the senator shared that 13 TV channels will be used by DepEd for distance learning.

"Sa tulong ng mga nasa industriya ng telecommunications, nagawan namin ng paraan para may magamit na 13 TV channels ang DepEd nang walang gastos sa gobyerno at mga estudyante. Kaya wala nang dahilan para hindi matuloy ang pag-aaral ng mga bata ngayong darating na pasukan," Pacquiao said.

According to Philippine Star (authored by Bella Rubio), DepEd confirmed that 865 private schools will not be operating for School Year 2020-2021.
