LIVE BLOG: Official canvassing of votes for President, VP

With the 2016 Philippine Elections nearing its conclusion, let us join the members of the Senate and the House of Representatives as they sit in a joint session for the official canvassing of votes at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City today, May 25.

According to the 1987 Constitution, Article VII, Section 4, Congress holds the sole authority to officially canvass the votes for the two highest executive positions - the president and the vice-president - as reflected in the certificates of canvass (COC) transmitted to Congress by the Board of Canvassers (BOC) of each province, city, and the local and overseas absentee votes – a total of 164 COCs.

Watch out for live updates as we count the votes for Canvassing of votes for the country's next president and vice president at the plenary hall of the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City at 2 p.m. today, May 25.
