Actress Angelica Panganiban took to social media her thoughts about the latest statement of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) that it wants to regulate the content on streaming services like Netflix.
KAMI learned that Angelica accused the government of ending the entertainment industry.
In a post on Twitter, the Kapamilya actress pointed out that at first, the government after free TV when they shutdown ABS-CBN, and now, they are planning to have jurisdiction over streaming services as well.
“Grabe na din. Pati streaming gusto na pakelaman,” Angelica said.
“Papatayin niyo na talaga ang industriya. Inuna niyo ang free tv. Bukas pag gising natin, north korea na to,” she added.
In her second tweet, Angelica asked if the government is afraid of the media and entertainment industry because it might somehow reflect the real issues in society.
“Bakit ba takot na takot kayo sa media at entertainment? Una press freedom... ngayon pati kalayaan namin gumawa at mag kwento, totoo man o pagpapanggap, gusto niyong kontrolin,” she said.
“Tinatamaan ba kayo? Kasi masyadong malapit sa totoong buhay ang napapanood niyo?” she continued.
Angelica is a famous actress in the Philippines. Some of her famous movies are That Thing Called Tadhana, Exes Baggage, and Here Comes The Bride.
Earlier, the MTRCB asked the Senate to allow the agency to regulate the content being shown via streaming platforms like Netflix, iFlix, and Viu.
Angelica is among the celebrities who are vocal on social media. She recently expressed her heartaches over the ABS-CBN shutdown.
