According to a journal written by Aster on Journal Online, there is a different side to the story of Regala. She also detailed where the donations for the veteran actor were spent.

“Lahat ng accounting ng pondong nakolekta ng aming grupo mula sa mga nag-donate (including known personalities) with their respective names at exact amount ay nakalista,” she said.
“Lahat ng gastusin from his hospital bills, medicines, groceries, suweldo ng caregiver at iba pang kagamitang binili for John ay nakalista,” she added.

Aster said that their group raised P300,000, including the P47,000 that came from his ex-wife, Au Manansala-Hunt. Another P20,00 were given by Cong. Ong and P10,000 from Liza Dino-Seguerra.

She also revealed that she was the one who reached out to Au to convince her and their son Kieffer to communicate with John.

“Ang inyong lingkod ang gumawa ng paraan para ma-reach at makausap si Au sa Amerika and eventually persuaded her to convince her son na si Kieffer na kausapin ang kanyang amang si John. All the works na hindi alam ng marami,” she said.

Aster mentioned that Regala stayed in a private room at the hospital with a caregiver. Some of the donations were used to cover the hospital bills and the rest was deposited to the personal bank account of Regala.

“After all the expenses (including hospital bills, medicines, etc), may natirang P115,000 which we deposited sa personal account ni John sa Metrobank at merong katibabayan (deposit slip and certification) ang aming grupo,” Aster said.
