The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee shared a piece of evidence they found regarding a scandalous birthday celebration of a Philippine Health Insurance Corp (PhilHealth) executive.
KAMI learned that a Senate report revealed that a woman wearing a provocative dress was dancing before PhilHealth Regional Vice President Paolo Johann Perez.
In a report by ABS-CBN News, Sen. Richard Gordon presented the video which showed the birthday dance presentation of the woman.
As stated in the Senate report, Perez received a huge box on his birthday while he was in his office. A girl wearing inappropriate clothes came out and started dancing in front of the PhilHealth official and the staff.
The committee report claimed that the dancing happened “during office hours” and the people were shouting as if it was a “nightclub.”
"On his birthday, Perez received a gift, an enormous box, in his office. A girl, dressed in nothing but her underwear, danced and gyrated provocatively in front of Perez,” it said in the committee report.
"Perez enjoyed the performance and was seen smiling in the video. He did not prevent the incident, or report and issue any reprimand to the employees who brought the girl," it added.
In a report by GMA News Online (authored by Dona Magsino), Perez confirmed that his staff prepared a birthday surprise for him. He also denied that the woman was naked.
"Birthday ko po noon. Mayroon pong hinandang program ang mga staff ko. Hindi ko po alam na may isang division 'di sila nakapagprepare dahil busy sila so kumuha sila ng talent na kakanta. Hindi rin po totoo na nakahubad ang talent," Perez said.
"Ang nangyari po noon, dahil maingay ang crowd di po siya nakakanta. Wala po akong alam doon, it came as a surprise to me," he added.
As reported by Inquirer (authored by Christia Marie Ramos), Perez was among the members that Sen. Gordon tagged as the “real mafia” in PhilHealth.
A former official of PhilHealth and whistleblower claimed that some of its executive members stole about P15 billion from its funds.
An official also said that it is possible for PhilHealth to be bankrupt by 2021 if the COVID-19 persists in the country.
President Duterte threatened the officials involved in the alleged PhilHealth corruption. He said that his Cabinet members will help him.
