Pres. Duterte hopes for COVID-free Christmas as he accepts Russia’s vaccine offer

- President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he accepted the offer of Russia to give COVID-19 vaccine in the Philippines

- The President even volunteered to get the first vaccine shot because he is confident over the vaccine

- President Duterte said that if the vaccine would work for him, then it is safe for Filipinos to use

- He is also hopeful that the Philippines will have a COVID-free Christmas season to enjoy

President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his confidence over the COVID-19 vaccine being developed by Russia.

KAMI learned that the President even volunteered to be the first person to be injected by the vaccine to make sure its safety.

In a Facebook post by Philippine Star, President Duterte said that he will talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin and tell him he trusts their study against COVID-19.

“Ako, pagdating ng bakuna, in public, para walang satsat diyan. In public, magpa-injection ako. Ako yung unang ma-experimentuhan, okay sa akin,” Duterte said.

“Sabihin ko rin kay President Putin na malaki ang tiwala ko sa…your studies in combating COVID and I believe that the vaccine you have produced is really good for humanity,” he added.

“Pagdating yung doctor nila o doctor natin, ako ang unang magpabakuna. Tignan natin kung pwede ba. Kung pwede sa akin, pwede sa lahat,” the President continued.

The President is also hopeful that the Philippines will celebrate Christmas without the coronavirus disease.

“Hintay na lang kayo. Konti na lang talaga. By December, sabi ko, in the fullness of God’s time, we will have, hopefully, a COVID-free December and we can enjoy this Christmas season,” President Duterte said.

Other reports have claimed that Russia is planning to register the world’s first COVID-19 vaccine on August 12, 2020. Russia is planning to have mass vaccination in October. However, some industrial bodies, even the World Health Organization, raised some safety concerns about the said vaccine.

About a month ago, the defense ministry of Russia announced that the COVID-19 they are developing showed promising results. They claimed that it was tested in trials and it showed that it is safe to use in humans.

Earlier, Pfizer and BioNTech announced that the COVID-19 vaccine they are developing showed encouraging results and has shown potential in a human trial.
