Michael V bravely opened up on his YouTube vlog about his difficult experience with COVID-19.

KAMI learned that he has experienced a different kind of hardship due to COVID-19 aside from the physical symptoms and the isolation.

The comedian revealed that he and his family have experienced harassment due to his illness.

He explained that the stigma against COVID-19 patients makes some people hesitate to have themselves checked or admitted in a hospital.

“Nakakadagdag din sa sakit yung stigma sa mga COVID patients. Para kang tinatakan ng 'reject' ng lipunan.
“Kahit naka-full PPE [personal protective equipment] ka, iniiwasan ka ng mga tao, kinatatakutan, pinandidirihan.
“Ang masama, yung iba hinihiya o hina-harass ka pa.
“Hindi ko na lang idedetalye, pero kami mismo ng pamilya ko, naka-experience kami ng harassment.
“E, wala, ganun talaga, kaya siguro yung iba, ayaw na lang ipaalam na may COVID sila, or worse, kahit may nararamdaman na, ayaw na lang nilang magpa-test.
“Kasi bukod sa siguradong gagastos ka na, dadaanan mo pa yung mga ganun.
“Although siyempre, hindi tama yun. Dapat maging responsable tayo.
"Hindi lamang para sa mga sarili natin, kundi para sa pamilya natin, mga kaibigan natin, at yung mga tao sa paligid natin na pwedeng maapektuhan.
“Huwag niyo na lang inintidihin ang sasabihin ng iba. Ipagdasal niyo na lang sila.

Michael V. is one of the most acclaimed male actors and comedians in the Philippines. In 2013, he won Best Comedy Actor at the prestigious PMPC Star Awards for Television.

He announced in his new vlog uploaded on July 20 that he has tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
