“Dos Por Dos,” a prominent radio program hosted by Anthony Taberna and Gerry Baja, has already bid farewell to its avid listeners.
KAMI learned that the said show is heavily affected by the much-talked-about franchise renewal issue of the Kapamilya network.
During the program’s last airing moments, its prominent hosts decided to read the statement of ABS-CBN regarding the on-going retrenchment.
Although the decision is difficult for them, Baja admitted that he and the people behind “Dos Por Dos” understood why the media giant needs to let go of its employees.
“Iyan po ay nauunawan naman natin,” he quipped.
“Kung ikaw ay sasahimpapawid lang sa pamamagitan ng cable at digital at social media, hindi ho matutustusan ang pangangailangan lalo na sa dami ng empleyadong dapat pasuwelduhin,” he added.
Meanwhile, Taberna recognized the fact that just like other businesses, there must be enough income to be able to pay all the workers.
“Kami po ay nagpapaalam na sa tunay po nitong kahulugan,” the award-winning broadcast-journalist stated.
“Kahit sa ibang kompanya pa, kahit sa ibang klaseng industriya pa, kapag meron kang ginagastos na malaki at walang pumapasok na sapat na kita para tustusan yung gastos na ‘yon, you have no other recourse but to stop the bleeding. And to stop the bleeding is to let you go, wakasan na ang kontrata,” he added.
Anthony Taberna is a prominent broadcast-journalist in the Philippines. He has been recognized by many award-giving bodies because of his excellent reporting.
About a year ago, he was slammed by Ben Tulfo because of his serious and controversial accusation against the TV5 reporter.
Anthony is also one of the employees of ABS-CBN that is affected by the Congress’ denial of its franchise renewal bid. 70 lawmakers voted against the giant network.
