Sen. Cynthia Villar clarified her controversial statement when she was asked on DWIZ regarding the request of the medical community to revert Metro Manila again to ECQ.
"Hindi na siguro. Pagbutihin nila trabaho nila. Hindi pwedeng isara ang ekonomiya kasi kung 'di naman mamamatay sa COVID, mamamatay naman sa gutom ang tao," said the senator.
However, on Sunday, she clarified her statement and said that it was not meant for frontliners but for government officials.
"Government leaders need to work harder to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic to the economy, the health sector, and the people," reported ABS-CBN.
"We all want to be safe and COVID-free. All of us are doing a difficult balancing act to keep people safe and alive. We all need to keep our jobs, the economy, to do our respective roles to sustain this. All of us have to work harder and better," said Villar.

The government faced problems when they imposed the initial community quarantine, which was elevated into enhanced community quarantine. It also suspended transportation causing massive problems with commuters.
Doctors have died after being infected by COVID-19. They are among the frontliners who attend to the patients rushing to hospitals amid pandemic.
