- Sen. Cynthia Villar tried to clarify her controversial statement regarding the appeal of frontliners to revert Metro Manila to ECQ as they have gotten so tired

- On Sunday, Aug. 2, the senator said that her statement was not meant for frontliners but was meant for government officials

- She said that they have to work harder and better, and that she was referring to them, to DOH and PhilHealth, and added that there is so much room for improvement

- This came after she received flak for her controversial "pagbutihin nila trabaho nila" statement

Sen. Cynthia Villar clarified her controversial statement when she was asked on DWIZ regarding the request of the medical community to revert Metro Manila again to ECQ.

"Hindi na siguro. Pagbutihin nila trabaho nila. Hindi pwedeng isara ang ekonomiya kasi kung 'di naman mamamatay sa COVID, mamamatay naman sa gutom ang tao," said the senator.

However, on Sunday, she clarified her statement and said that it was not meant for frontliners but for government officials.

"Government leaders need to work harder to minimize the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic to the economy, the health sector, and the people," reported ABS-CBN.

"We all want to be safe and COVID-free. All of us are doing a difficult balancing act to keep people safe and alive. We all need to keep our jobs, the economy, to do our respective roles to sustain this. All of us have to work harder and better," said Villar.
