- A social media post of a PTV4 host stating that the government is full of unregularized employees may have irked a government official
- He pointed out that to argue that ABS-CBN's franchise cannot be renewed because it has unregularized employees is hypocritical considering that there are many unregularized employees in the government
- He actually said that perhaps, it's a wake-up call for the industry to treat employees better but called for not using it as a reason for the non-renewal of the franchise
- The host recently posted about bidding his home network goodbye and held on to his principles
Jules Guiang, a talk show host of the state-run network PTV4 lost his job after he made a tweet which was a direct contravention of what some congressmen were saying during the hearing of the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN.
It can be recalled that Anakalusugan Representative Mike Defensor was among those who argued that ABS-CBN was hiring people under different contracts, stating that some were not regularized.
Thereafter, Jules tweeted about a fact that there are many unregularized employees in the government:
"Check govt’s backyard, thousands aren’t regularized. Ex: I’m on my 8th year in PTV w/o benefits, no employer-employee status. Job orders are a thing in govt & private sector.
“We’re all for regularization, for a living wage, etc. I just find this argument hypocritical to be used against a network that is trying to renew their franchise. Maybe it’s a wake up call for the industry to treat their people fairly pero ‘wag naman ipitin ang dos dahil dito."
Allegedly, his tweet went viral and it irked a government official. In fact, Jules tweeted about taking a bow, where he needed to leave the place he called home for eight years.
Now, Jules lost his job of eight years and has already tweeted about saying goodbye to the network he called home.
When the shutdown of ABS-CBN was carried out, Regine Velasquez expressed strong words over it. She said that after everything, they will come back better and brighter.
After this, Kim Chiu became viral because of her "Bawal Lumabas." The singer-actress also expressed sympathy towards the younger actress.
ABS-CBN is one of the most popular media and entertainment outfits in the Philippines. It has produced top-caliber stars, well-loved programs, and timely news. Some of the popular shows are “It’s Showtime” and “TV Patrol.”
