“Ito namang SONA, talagang kinlear natin iyong schedule para dito, so dahil hindi naman ako imbitado physically na pumunta doon, sa Zoom mag-a-attend ako…kasi obligasyon natin ito,” the Vice President said.
Due to the threat of the COVID-19, only limited members of the Congress, Cabinet officials, and other guests will be allowed to enter the Batasan Pambansa.
Leni Robredo is the current and 14th Vice President of the Philippines. She has been popularly known as the widow of late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.
Earlier, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes endorsed VP Robredo to be the leader of the COVID-19 task force. Trillanes claimed that she would be more efficient in flattening the COVID-19 curve.
A commissioner from the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) also called for an NBI investigation after claiming that VP Robredo was “competing” with the national government’s COVID-19 relief efforts.
Later on, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he fired the commissioner who criticized the Vice President.
