The Department of Health (DOH) revealed on Wednesday that there are five provinces in the Philippines that have not recorded a single case of the novel coronavirus disease.
KAMI learned that the said illness remains as the number one health crisis in the country today as almost all places have confirmed cases of it.
However, the health department said that among the country’s 81 provinces, Batanes, Quirino, Aurora, and Dinagat Islands remain free from COVID-19 as of July.
Siquijor was also added in the short list of provinces that have no confirmed cases of the virus months since it first hit the Philippines.
“Bukod po sa pagiging isolated dahil isla po ang iba sa mga probinsyang ito, ipinagmamalaki po namin ang balitang ito at inaanyayahan na patuloy po nating ipagpatuloy ang mga measures na kanilang nasimulan,” said DOH Director IV Beverly Ho.
“Alam po natin na ang kanilang mga local government ay active in terms of screening people who come from areas with community transmission na pabalik sa kanila,” she added.
As of this writing, the country already has 76,444 confirmed cases of COVID-19. A total of 24,502 patients have recovered already while 1,879 infected people have died.
