- The statement was addressed to other celebrities who have chosen to keep mum amid ABS-CBN shutdown
- Lauren then took to social media recently to echo the Kapamilya actress’ standpoint
- The Kapuso actress also called out her fellow celebrities to speak up and use their platforms
Lauren Young recently echoed Angel Locsin’s statement calling out her fellow celebrities who have stayed silent amid ABS-CBN shutdown.
During the noise barrage protest of ABS-CBN workers and supporters on July 18, Angel boldly said, “Sa mga kasamahan kong artistang 'di nagsasalita, ano, may career pa ba kayo? Wala na, wala na kayong network. Kahit magpa-cute kayo d'yan sa Instagram, mag-send kayo ng sad face, di n'yo nadadamayan ang mga katrabaho n'yo na dahilan kung bakit kayo sumikat.”
Lauren then retweeted an art card showing the Kapamilya star’s statement addressed to artists who have chosen to keep mum about the issue.
In separate series of Twitter post, Lauren penned her stand over the same topic.
“Walang kwenta and kasikatan mo at yaman mo if you won’t even help the people who put you there in the first place. Ang pagiging artista mo ay trabaho lamang, but you are first and foremost a HUMAN. SPEAK UP!! USE YOUR PLATFORM. Ginagago na nila tayo eh and WE ALL DESERVE BETTER.”
“Whenever I speak out honestly may takot ako na baka mawalan ako ng trabaho from brands. But then again, in the long run, mas takot akong mawala ang freedom ko to voice out my opinions. So yeah I’ll post a selfie once in a while for work but you can never silence me. Periodt.”
“Kasi sa totoo lang you can do both eh. You can spread positivity!!! Go ahead!! But I don’t think its spreading negativity when you spread awareness on issues that affect us all as citizens.”
Lauren Anne Talde Young or Lauren Young was a former ABS-CBN star. She already starred in some Kapuso programs such as "Contessa", "Legally Blind", and "Marimar".
She recently called DJ Loonyo "bobo’" after the latter's statement about wearing face masks went viral.
Lauren also waged in a word war against the internet celebrity's fans who called her "laos" and "mataba".
