President Rodrigo Duterte turned to the Lord Jesus Christ as he asks the Filipinos to persevere amid the COVID-19 crisis in the country.
KAMI learned that President Duterte urged the Filipinos to dedicate their sacrifices to the Lord.
In a report by GMA News Online (authored by Llanesca Panti), the President said that the Lord will not neglect the needs of the Filipinos, as the Philippines is a Catholic country.
“The important thing here is perseverance. You must persevere during this time,” he said.
“Marunong ang Diyos. Hindi tayo pababayaan, lalo na Pilipino tayo, Kristiyano tayo,” he added.

He also said that the Filipinos should face the sacrifices as the Lord did when he was crucified.
“Magsakripisyo tayo, tutal ang idol natin, hinampas-hampas, pinako pa sa krus. Tayo, simba-simba lang. Dedicate your sacrifices to the Lord, dedicate the suffering for the country,” he said.
President Rodrigo Duterte once drew flak in the past for his controversial statements against God, the Bible, and the Catholic Church.
However, in one of his speeches last year, he admitted that he believes in God and that he is afraid of karma.
Just a few months ago, the President already sought for God’s help as he leads the Philippines against the coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
