- The veteran actress then penned an emotional social media post to express her grief over the said job cuts
- She even asked those who are in favor of the ABS-CBN shutdown, "Anong kaluluwa ang meron kayo?"
Cherry Pie Picache took to social media to lament the retrenchment of ABS-CBN workers after the media giant’s bid to renew its franchise was denied by Congress.
Earlier, the network announced that it was forced to displace workers due to the cease of operations of some of its businesses. The company said it was the "only way to ensure the continued employment" of the rest of its workers.
The veteran actress then penned an emotional Instagram post to express her grief over the said job cuts.
Here is her post:
“Durug na durog mga puso namin.... i don’t have any words to describe it....maga ang mga mata.... ito ay mga pamilya namin na nakatrabaho, nakasama, nakilala, naging kaibigan, minahal ng napaka tagal na panahon....tinanggalan nyo ng ikabubuhay kasama ng kanilang pamilya!!! pinilit na umalis sa tahanan at sa trabahaong mahal nila....marami sa kanila, ilang dekada kong nakasama......
Sa gitna ng pinaka malaking pagsubok na pandemya!!! anong kaluluwa ang meron kayo???!!! at sa lahat ng sumang-ayon at tumulong....
Sa mga kapamilyang nakasama o kahit hindi man... kaisa nyo kaming nakikidalamhati.... may awa ang Diyos. Maraming maraming salamat kapamilya!!!! Hanggang sa muli!!! Kapamilya forever!!!”
ABS-CBN is considered as the leading broadcasting corporation in the Philippines. It is currently facing heavy issues with regards to its 25-year franchise. On May 5 this year, the said giant network officially signed off from television after serving the Filipinos for more than six decades.
Furthermore, on July 10, a total of 70 lawmakers voted to "deny” the franchise application of the media giant to continue its broadcast operations while only 11 congressmen stood up for the network.
The sports division of ABS-CBN also sadly announced on July 15 that Sports+Action is officially signing off from national television.
