KAMI learned that the decision of the Congress came days after Enzo joined the Kapamilya protest.
In an Instagram post, the Kapamilya star expressed his support for the ABS-CBN network.
“I stand by ABS-CBN. Pagkakaisa...yan po ang kailangan natin ngayon panahon,” he wrote.
“Buksan po natin ang ating mga mata. Hinde po ito ang kalaban,” he added.
Enzo explained that the real enemy of the country is poverty, hunger, and the coronavirus disease.
“Ang kalaban ay hunger, poverty, at itong virus na sumisira sa buhay ng million milyong nating kababayan,” he said.
“Hinde po tayo mananalo sa laban na ito kung hinde tayo magkakaisa. #ibalikangabscbn #voteyestoabscbn,” he added.
However, as reported by the PEP.ph, Congressman Pineda was among those who voted “yes” to deny the franchise renewal of the Kapamilya network. He is also the business manager of Senator Manny Pacquiao.
As of posting time, Enzo has yet to respond on the issue.
Here is the list of the congressmen who voted “yes”, according to Interaksyon. It is stated that Congressman Pineda was the 33rd in the said list.
ABS-CBN is one of the biggest networks in the Philippines. However, the National Telecommunications Commission issued a cease and desist order against the media giant while its franchise was still pending in Congress.
Last Friday, the House of Representatives officially rejected the franchise renewal of the ABS-CBN Network. 70 congressmen voted “yes” to deny the franchise renewal, while 11 lawmakers voted “no.”
The son of Malabon City Representative Jaye Lacson-Noel, Kito Noel, also condemned the vote of his own mother that contributed to the denied franchise.
