- On Friday, it was revealed that the Committee on Legislative Franchise officially denies the network another 25-year franchise

- Meanwhile, there are only 11 votes that favor the Kapamilya network
The Committee on Legislative Franchises of the House of Representatives officially rejected on Friday the bid of ABS-CBN to secure another 25-year franchise.
KAMI learned that a total of 70 lawmakers voted to "deny” the franchise application of the said media giant to continue its broadcast operations.
The aforementioned number was way higher than the 11 votes that favored the Kapamilya network.
Two members of the committee decided to inhibit their votes, while one lawmaker abstained.
"By no means can this franchise application be related to press freedom," a technical working group stated.
"It is what it is - a denial of a privilege granted by the State because the applicant was seen as undeserving of the grant of a legislative franchise,” it added.
ABS-CBN is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most popular broadcasting companies in the country. Its franchise expired on May 4, causing them to officially sign off.
A few weeks ago, Solicitor General Jose Calida claimed that the “end” is already fast-approaching for the said network.
Vice Ganda, one of the employees of ABS-CBN, also gave a heartwarming message to his fellow employees who are thinking that they might lose their jobs once its franchise bid gets denied.
