A Filipino family in California never imagined that they would be subjected to racism. This was what happened to Raymond Orosa and his family who were dining at a restaurant, celebrating his wife's birthday.
In Maki Pulido's report in "24 Oras," a video of the actual incident was shown.
A white American, later identified as Michael Lofthouse, was throwing racial slurs at the family who were sitting at a different table.
Lofthouse was an officer of a tech company, and he could be heard saying "Asian piece of sh**" and "Trump's gonna f*** you."
A staff of the restaurant came to the defense of the family and told Lofthouse to leave.
"Get out of here! You are not allowed here. No, you do not talk to our guests like that. Get out! Now! They are valued guests. You are not allowed here, ever again," said the staff.
According to Orosa, for the 26 years he stayed in America, it was the first time that he experienced racism.

There have been many instances where Filipinos experienced racism in other countries. This was exacerbated by the pandemic, wherein the virus originated China, along with what happened to George Floyd where an Asian officer stood by while he was being pinned on the ground.
There was an OFW family who was ordered to leave a coffee shop in New Zealand. In another incident, a Filipina had an encounter with a racist American woman.
Racism is a very delicate and contentious subject. At present, Asians have experienced discrimination because of their race.
