Jang Lucero, who was found dead with dozens of stab wounds inside her car in Calamba, Laguna, continues to make headlines weeks since the murder occurred.

KAMI learned that Calamba City police chief Lt. Col. Gene Licud has opened up about the high-profile murder case that has captivated the nation.

According to Licud’s interview with Teleradyo, the two possible motives for Lucero’s murder are love triangle, hatred or revenge.

“Sa ngayon po, ‘yung sinasabi na love triangle ay hindi pa rin tinatanggal ‘yun at ‘yung sinasabi kong hatred o revenge ay pumapasok po dito sa anggulo bilang kasama sa motive,” Licud told Teleradyo, as reported by Consuelo Marquez for The Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Ann Sheila Montes Belarmino, the female suspect who recently got arrested in Antipolo, was supposedly seen through CCTV footage and identified by witnesses. Belarmino is an ex-girlfriend of Lucero’s girlfriend, Meyah Amatorio.

Lucid added that further investigation decreased the number of suspects from six to five.

“Mayroong witnesses na nagsasabi na siya (Belarmino) po ‘yung babaeng isa sa sumakay dun sa sasakyan ni Jang nung gabing napaslang si Jang Lucero,” Licud explained.

Jang Lucero’s girlfriend, Meyah Amatorio, revealed that the victim told her hours before her death that she would be transporting three passengers from Laguna to Gil Puyat, Manila.

When she could not contact Lucero anymore on her cellphone hours later, she decided to seek the police’s help. She added that she is not aware of any feud or conflict involving her girlfriend.

The PNP has announced that they already identified the suspects but that they are still trying to build a strong case against those people.
