- Army Commanding Lt. Gen. Gilbert Gapay called the Sulu incident which killed four soldiers as murder
- He cited that if it was a misencounter, a firefight should have ensued and a casualty from the side of the PNP should have been made
- The army chief said that the soldiers were not able to fire a shot
- What baffled the military more was why the policemen left the bodies of government troops on the ground, the area not having been cordoned
An enraged Philippine Army Chief Lieutenant General Gilbert Gapay faced reporters on Tuesday afternoon and tackled the Sulu incident where four soldiers on a mission were killed by the PNP.
In GMA's report, Gapay said that it was murder, citing key points as to why the army is not buying the version of the local police as "misencounter."
"It was murder. It is murder... there is no misencounter dahil hindi naman pumutok 'yung tropa namin. Nandoon 'yung mga baril nila sa baba. These are PNP personnel, kung may misencounter, nagkaputukan, palagay niyo walang tatamaan na PNP? This was no misencounter here, it was a rubout...." stated Gapay.
He also stated that nine policemen were involved. Five were the ones who fired the shots and the other four served as lookout.
"Mga four to five 'yung bumaril, the others served as lookout. After mapatay nila lahat, they fled. SOP ba 'yun? Diba pag may namatay, you have to cordone the area and wait for SOCO? Wala, nagtakbuhan lahat eh. So this is another thing we have to find out in the investigation," said Gapay.
In a previous KAMI report, Sulu cops killed four military officers with the ranks of major, captain, sergeant and army corporal who were on a mission to find bombmaker of Abu Sayyaf Group.
The Abu Sayyaf Group is a Jihadist militant and pirate group that creates terror in the hearts of civilians.
