An “alias” cease and desist order will be issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) against the channel that is airing ABS-CBN TV Plus shows.
KAMI learned of the said information during the recent House joint panel hearings regarding the controversial franchise renewal of the media giant.
It was Anakalusugan party-list Representative Mike Defensor who initially questioned why the said network still airs programs on digital TV amid halt order from the NTC.
“The fact that it continues to air using the same frequency, Mr. Chairman, it is not only a violation of a franchise but also a usurpation and infringement on the power of Congress,” the solon quipped.
In response, NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba stated that Channel 43 is included in the cease and desist order issued against the Kapamilya network in May.
He also mentioned that the NTC asked for an advice from Solicitor General Jose Calida after learning that the giant network continues to air via digital TV.
Cordoba said that the Office of the Solicitor General told the agency that it could issue an alias cease and desist order against the channel airing ABS-CBN TV Plus shows.
"Ang commitment mo, ngayong hapon, ihihinto mo lahat ng programa at ilalabas mo yang alias cease and desist order dahil yan ang guidance ng Solicitor General," Defensor asked.
“Yes,” the commissioner replied.
