Filipino-Australian Melanie Perkins has been named as the youngest billionaire in Australia now.
KAMI learned that Perkins is the woman behind the graphic design and publishing tool "Canva.”
In a report by the GMA News Online, Perkins is now also the third richest woman in Australia at the age of 32.
Canva skyrocketed amid the pandemic because many people shifted work online and have been creating their own portfolio or CV using the online publishing tool.
Perkins founded Canva in 2014 along with her fiancé Cliff Obrecht and Cameron Adams. According to the Fil-Aussie, she wanted to find an easier way for people to create quality and professional graphic designs they can access online despite their level of experience.
"I think that's the most important thing because once you find a problem you want to solve passionately, there's gonna be so many barriers — every single barrier you can possibly imagine," she said.
"I think that once you get a crystal clear picture of the problem you want to solve, that's sort of step one," she added.
Based on the report of news.com.au, Perkins is now part of Australia’s richest 250 lists. She is now at the 82nd spot with a net worth of $1.32 billion.
According to Canva, it added $60 million to its value, making a total of $6 billion right now. Meanwhile, Canva’s business worth is reportedly at $2.5 billion.
