DOH announces 6 ‘emerging hotspots’ for COVID-19 in Visayas

- The Department of Health (DOH) released an updated statistics of COVID-19 cases in the country

- In the said report, the names of places that are considered as “emerging hotspots” were also revealed

- The health department was able to monitor a sudden increase in the rate of infection in 6 places in Visayas

- Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that equipment have been sent already to increase the testing capacity

The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Wednesday that there are six “emerging hotspots” for the novel coronavirus disease in Visayas.

KAMI learned that the said department was able to monitor a sudden increase in the rate of infection in a total of six areas in the said region.

It identified Cebu City, Cebu province, Ormoc City, Southern Leyte, Leyte, and Samar as the “emerging hotspots” for COVID-19 infection.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that several equipment have been sent already to the aforementioned areas to increase the testing capacity.

It also required the six “emerging COVID-19 hotspots” to strictly implement the safety protocols set by the health department.

“Hindi pa po ganun karami ang mga kaso sa nasabing lugar ngunit nakikita na po natin na mas mabilis na tumataas kumpara po sa ibang mga lugar,” she quipped.

“Tayo ay nagpadala ng mga kagamitan to ramp up the testing capacity of Cebu province and required the strict implementation of the public health standards with the help of the local government and the National Task Force in these emerging hotspots,” she added.
