Jennylyn Mercado took to social media to respond to a netizen who belittled her for being a celebrity.

KAMI learned that the basher told Jennylyn to stick to singing and acting instead of sharing her thoughts on current social issues.

The Kapuso star fired back in a classy manner, saying that everyone has the right to voice their opinion whatever their profession is.

According to Jennylyn, what is important is that the information and statements being given out are not fake news and that the arguments and points being raised are logical and sensible.

“Wala namang pinililing panahon, lugar, at tao ang magsalita at magbigay ng opinyon. Ano pong meron sakin at wala akong karapatan na gawin yun?
“Hindi po porket artista ay wala na kaming kalayaan upang iexpress ang sarili at gamitin ang aming plataporma para magbigay at mamahagi ng impormasyon.
“Ang limitasyon lamang duon ay siguraduhing credible ang ating pinapamahaging balita at may laman o sense ang ating mga pinopost.
“Maganda po na lahat tayo ay nakikipagtalakayan sa isa’t isa para mas lalo tayong magkaroon ng kaalaman sa mga nangyayari sa ating bansa.
“Pero sana sa mga diskusyon ay nandun ang respeto sa isa’t isa kahit iba ang ating mga opinyon o paniniwala.
“Sana itigil na ng iba gumamit ng masasakit na salita at personal na atakihin ang pagkatao ng mga nakakasalamuha dito sa Social Media.
“Hindi tayo pinalaki ng ating mga magulang na mangaway o hindi rumespeto ng kapwa.
“Lahat po tayo ay pantay pantay. Mga tao na sumusunod sa batas at binibigyan ng karapatan nito ng Malayang Pananalita (Freedom Of Speech) upang maipamahagi ang mga natututunan at naoobserbahan.
“I don’t hinder or stop you from sharing your opinion, so don’t tell me to stop from giving mine.
“Pasensya na po. Pero nakakalungkot na ang baba ng tingin ninyo sa mga artista at mga tao na hindi parehas ang paniniwala sa inyo. Tao po kami.
“Nagiisip, nakakardam, at nagmamahal katulad ninyo. Ang dami ng negatibo na nangyayari sa mundo, huwag po sana tayo dumagdag dito,” Jennylyn posted on Facebook.
