Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque blamed his own team for the delay of the cash benefits to be given to the health workers who passed away or got infected by the coronavirus disease of COVID-19.
KAMI learned that Duque said his team had no sense of urgency regarding this matter.
In a report by the CNN Philippines, the health secretary promised to President Rodrigo Duterte that they will comply with the set deadline for the cash benefits distribution.
"Nakakahiya talaga. Namatayan na nga, tapos nagpawardi-wardi ang mga tao ko. Parang walang sense of urgency. Talagang ang sama-sama talaga ng loob ko," Duque said.
"Iyon ang talagang ang sama-sama po ng loob ko, Mr. President," he added.
In a post on Twitter, Duque said that while he is disappointed with some members of his team, he still acknowledges his responsibilities as the Secretary of Health.
“While I expressed disappointment towards some members of my team, I acknowledge that this is still my responsibility as SOH,” he said.
“I will make sure that we comply with the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act, with proper documentation and identification of HCWs,” he added.
Meanwhile, President Duterte said that he will spare Duque and he will not terminate him. He also ordered Duque to form a new team to address the issue.
As previously reported by KAMI, Duque contradicted the statement of President Duterte regarding the “no vaccine, no classes” issue.
