The Department of Health (DOH) announced on May 29 that there are 1,046 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease in the Philippines.
KAMI learned that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country is now 16,893.
However, out of the said number of new cases, only 46 are fresh cases. Meaning, the results of the tests were released to the patients within the last 3 days.
The other 1 thousand are the so-called late cases. They are identified as such because patients were able to receive the results after 4 days of getting tested.
It can be remembered that the health department has decided to change its way of reporting the number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, 122 patients have recovered today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,720.
With regard to the fatalities, the DOH said there are 21 more infected people who died of the virus. The total number of deaths is now 942.
