Idol! Kai Sotto makes Filipinos proud as he enters NBA G League

Filipino athlete Kai Sotto makes his way to the new season of NBA G League.

KAMI learned that Sotto signed a deal to be the fourth member to join the NBA G League Select Team.

Through an Instagram post, Sotto confirmed the next big step he has taken to reach his NBA dream.

“Now, I have to take the next big step towards my NBA dream. We have many options available but after much thought, I believe this option is the best route for me to get closer and faster to that dream,” Sotto said.

“Here, I will be playing with some of the very best and I will have even more resources and support. I am committed to work on developing my game on a much bigger stage,” he added.

According to Spin.ph, Sotto would earn at least P10 million for 5 months or in just one season in the NBA League.

NBA G League president Shareef Abdur-Rahim said that Sotto has a “lot of upside” and that he has made “tremendous progress” with his basketball skills.

"He is new to the system, so there are some people that may not know him. We see Kai as having really a lot of upside,” he said, as reported by Rappler.

"Folks have not seen him a lot, and if you have seen him, then you recognize that he has made tremendous progress,” he added.

In a previous report by KAMI, Sotto grew taller and now has a height of 7-foot-2. He is now taller than former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal.

Sotto was a member of the Ateneo Blue Eaglets and won in the UAAP Juniors Season 80 Championship. He also became a player of the Batang Gilas. He is the son of former PBA player and assistant coach Ervin Sotto.
