- Congress has approved the bill that sought to grant a provisional franchise to ABS-CBN
- The said bill would allow the network to resume operations until October 31, but it would still need the approval in a plenary session
- House Bill 6732 was sponsored by House Speaker Allan Peter Cayetano
- It states that Congress is hoping that the measure would strike a balance between the immediate needs of the people and compliance with laws
The 18th Congress has approved House Bill 6732 which granted the provisional franchise of ABS-CBN until October 31, 2020.
The bill, as per DZMM was authored by House Speaker Alan Cayetano. It still needs to be approved by the House Plenary.
ABS-CBN's report stated that a portion of the bill stated:
"Through this measure, we hope to strike a balance between the immediate needs of the people amid this crisis and the duty of Congress to ensure accountability to our present law."
"It's just a few months but it's good enough so we can restore ABS-CBN to the airwaves...," said Cagayan De Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez.
