Basketball star Chris Tiu just announced that he is going to become a father as his wife, Clarisse Ong, is pregnant with their first baby and is expected to deliver anytime soon.
On Thursday, Chris posted on Instagram announcing that he and his wife are expecting their first child anytime now. He also asked his fans and supporters to pray that his wife will have a safe and smooth delivery of a healthy baby.
He also used the opportunity to thank his wife for always making sure that he gets adequate amounts of rest and eats healthy food, especially before his PBA games. Chris and Clarisse were childhood sweethearts who got married in 2013.
Chris Tiu started his basketball career as a high school amateur player, playing for the Xavier School Golden Stallions. For his collegiate amateur basketball career, Tiu played for the Ateneo Blue Eagles where he won the UAAP Championship once and became a UAAP Mythical Team Member twice. His teammates include Doug Kramer, JC Intal and Macky Escalona.
Tiu entered the professional league during the 2012 PBA Rookie Draft. He was selected as the 7th overall pick by the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters where he plays as a point guard.
Chris Tiu and his team recently won the Oppo PBA Commissioner's Cup championship on May 18. The team defeated the Alaska Aces with a score of 109-92 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and won the best-of-seven series at 4-2. Tiu scored 3 points, had 3 rebounds and 1 assist during the championship-winning game.
Aside from being a PBA player, Chris is also a TV personality, a product endorser and an entrepreneur. He currently hosts GMA’s “IBILIB: Wonders of Horus” and TV 5’s “1-on-1 Tiu-torials” and also has several food and beverage businesses put up with his partners.
