A video showing the people inside the newsroom of ABS-CBN when it was about to go off-air is now circulating on social media.
KAMI learned that the said network was told to stop its broadcast operations after failing to secure a legislative franchise before May 4.
A controversial “cease and desist” order was issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) against the Kapamilya network on Tuesday afternoon.
Moments before ABS-CBN stopped its operations, several people in the newsroom stood up and watched the last messages that the network aired on national television.
When the network officially signed off, employees gave a resounding round of applause and they even shouted the word “laban” to fight for press freedom.
Some of them even became emotional because the network, which had served the country for more than 65 years, had to comply with the order of the NTC.
“I am a Kapamilya viewer. Be strong for this trial… Di kayo nag-iisa. malalampasan natin to,” a netizen commented.
