ABS-CBN has already stopped its operation following the “cease and desist” order issued by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).
KAMI learned that the giant network officially signed off at 7 p.m. today to comply with the mandate of the said government agency.
The network, which had served Filipinos for 65 years, failed to renew its legislative franchise that expired on May 4.
The NTC expressed in a statement that since ABS-CBN has no franchise anymore, its broadcast operations must not continue.
The giant network officially went off-air after airing a short video clip and the national anthem of the Philippines.
