The Palace announced on Monday that President Rodrigo Duterte decided that the PhilHealth contributions for overseas Filipino workers (OFW) should be voluntary.

KAMI learned that the decision came after the issue drew flak from OFWs.

In a report by the Philippine Star, the Palace said that OFWs will no longer be required to pay premium contributions.

As reported by the Inquirer (authored by Krissy Aguilar), Roque also mentioned that Health Secretary Francisco Duque III suspended an item under the universal health care that aims for higher PhilHealth contribution amid COVID-19 crisis.
