A 56-year-old in Barangay Lawaan, Dumanjug, Cebu, died on Friday after he lined up to receive his cash assistance under the social amelioration program (SAP) of the government.
According to the Dumanjug Police, together with the Rural Health Unit, they immediately responded to a call of a number of residents about a male who was seen lying on the road.
KAMI learned that when they arrived at the location, they found that the Lolito Ferrer, the victim, was already dead.
As per ABS-CBN, according to the investigation, they last saw Ferrer at the multi-purpose building where the distribution of the SAP was being made.
The nephew of Ferrer also confirmed that the victim went to claim the assistance under SAP, DWIZ reported .
GMA narrated that the victim decided to go home as it was already noontime and his "ayuda" was not yet given. He fell as he was making his way home, and reportedly suffered from heatstroke.
In a previous report by KAMI, the government faced problems when they imposed the initial community quarantine, which was elevated into enhanced community quarantine. It also suspended transportation causing massive problems with commuters.
