Ten relief volunteers were arrested by the Marikina police after they cooked breakfast and fed a disenfranchised community.

According to Rappler, the arrest happened on May 1, Labor Day. In the video, it can be seen that a policeman was talking and he could be heard at one point saying, "posasan niyo na."

He then took out handcuffs and approached the person taking the video.

KAMI learned that a recent development on the incident revealed that Marikina Mayor Marcelino "Marcy" Teodoro ordered the release of the 10 volunteers.

He said that the PNP was overreacting when they made the arrest.

“Nag-overreact ‘yung PNP (Philippine National Police), eh. Hindi dapat inaresto dahil wala namang ginagawang masama yung mga kababayan natin,” said the Mayor.

He also explained that the volunteers were observing social distancing during the distribution.

Mayor Teodoro also said that the police officers may have just misinterpreted the placards of the volunteers, which called for mass testing.
