A group of Chinese experts arrived in the Philippines in order to help the country in addressing the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.

KAMI learned that according to the Chinese experts, the home quarantine for COVID-19 patients was not effective for them.

“For our experience, home quarantine is ineffective,” they said.

In a report by GMA News Online, Philippine General Hospital (PGH) spokesperson Dr. Jonas del Rosario said that the Chinese experts also mentioned that it would be difficult to make sure if COVID-19 patients are not leaving their houses during the quarantine.

“Kasi minsan ‘yung mga tao raw hindi mo talaga ma-control kung saan pupunta, so kapag COVID suspect ka… i-a-admit ka hanggang malaman kung ikaw ay positive o hindi,” Del Rosario said.

The Chinese team also said that the country still lacks quarantine facilities to accommodate COVID-19 patients.

It was also suggested that N95 masks should only be used for 4 hours and that the staff should have a 4-hour shift as well.

According to the Department of Health (DOH), it will carefully study and consider the recommendations of the Chinese experts.
