Former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. shared that he has been recovering from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
KAMI learned that Marcos released a vlog to narrate his experience as COVID-19 patient and survivor.
Through a Facebook video, Marcos explained that he possibly got infected by the disease when he and his wife went to Spain to attend a wedding.
“I'm feeling better. I'm starting to recover. This was really something of an experience because I did not realize how bad this COVID was until I got it,” Marcos said.
“I believe I got it with travelling in Spain. Nandun kami sa España dahil ‘yung isang pamangkin naming mag-asawa, nag-attend kami nung kanyang wedding. Palagay ko doon ko nakuha eh,” he added.
The former senator also shared that he attempted to get tested for COVID-19 the moment he arrived in the Philippines but he was not able to do it.
“Pumunta ako sa ospital [para] magpa-test, eh hindi pa masyadong handa ‘yung DOH, hindi pa masyadong handa ‘yung nasa ospital, ang haba pa nung pila, ang daming nag-aantay, ay kako, siguro, kaya pa naman ito, so umuwi na lang ako,” he said.
However, after a week, he said that his condition got worse and he had a hard time breathing. He was rushed to the hospital but decided to be quarantined at home.
Marcos also commended the health care workers for saving his life from COVID-19. He said that people should listen to healthcare workers and give them what they need in order to survive.
“Alam niyo po, ako, talagang tiyak na tiyak na sinalba ako ng ating mga doktor, ng ating mga health care workers dahil kundi sa kanila, palagay ko ‘yung tumama sa akin eh baka mas naging grabe pa,” he said.
As previously reported by KAMI, the spokesperson of Marcos confirmed that he tested positive for COVID-19 weeks after he arrived from Spain.
Bongbong Marcos served as a senator from 2010 to 2016. He is the second child and only son of late President Ferdinand Marcos and former First Lady Imelda Marcos.
