Health experts have established that coronavirus can last on surfaces for days, with steel surfaces being the best breeding grounds, and plastic surfaces coming in close at second place.

While everyone has been busy with handwashing, one must not forget to be mindful of their shoes.

As per Huffington Post, Mary E. Schmidt, an infectious disease specialist, said that the time that the virus can live on shoes could be five days ore more.

A family practitioner, Georgine Nanos, said that shoes that are worn in heavily populated locations like mass transit or grocery stores, including workplaces, can become a source of contamination.

Independent reported that another doctor, Cwanza Pinckney, said that the sole is the breeding ground of more viruses and bacteria.

Public health specialist Carol Winner, said that taking off shoes before entering one's home will be ideal.

Most health workers would have separate work shoes and home shoes. There are those who would take off their work shoes and put them in designated containers before entering their vehicles.

Experts also warned parents with kids at home as the latter is prone to mishandle their shoes.
