After the entire Luzon was put under enhanced community quarantine to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), graduation and moving-up ceremonies have been postponed.

To appreciate her child’s diligence, a mother named Jessica Orda from Caloocan City decided to organize a graduation rite for her senior high school daughter.

According to the Philippine Star, Jessica’s daughter Alyssa Lodronio was supposed to graduate last March 27, 2020 but it was postponed because of the COVID-19 situation in the country.

“So my family decided to have this pretend-to-be graduation in our home for my daughter,” the mother said.

Jessica works as an events planner and she used her knowledge from her profession to make balloon pillars, a poster and a video slide show with the help of other family members for the DIY ceremony.

Their family also prepared a short program, complete with graduation march, singing of the national anthem, opening prayer and awarding of diploma and medal.

“My daughter also had her simple graduation speech, naiyak pa nga siya. After the program we had dinner,” Jessica added.
