Since we are in the modern world of Internet and social media, even dating took a whole new idea. People around the world get to know each other through social media sites while others use dating apps such as the popular Tinder.
However, we cannot always be certain that the person we are dating online would turn out to be just as what we expect them to be. But then, we still go on and try online dating, maybe because of the thrill and the element of mystery that it gives us. With this setup, there is always a possibility that the person on the other end isn't everything they make themselves out to be on their profile, despite the pictures and the facts they gave out about themselves. As a result, first dates/meetings become extra-awkward because of the expectations.
While we know that Tinder is one of the most popular dating apps in the world today, it is also one of those apps where people pretend to be someone they are really not, and make people looking at their profile believe who they are. On the other hand, some people tend to look at how hot or how gorgeous a person is on Tinder when they decide to meet up (Guess physical traits matter more in this generation).
The video below is a social experiment titled "Fat Girl Tinder Date (Social Experiment)" by YouTube channel "Simple Pickup". This aims to show what happens when a Tinder match is drastically different in person than on mobile.
Sarah, a 24-year-old Tinder-user helps "Simple Pickup" with their experiment. She was fully transformed with makeup and told to wear a fat suit to look like an overweight woman. The experiment wants to know what happens when your date looks a few pounds heavier in person than what you saw on his/her profile. The guys' reactions are all recorded using a hidden camera in order to see how the meet-up goes.
Thanks for watching!
