‘Baby COVID-19’ patient recovers from pneumonia and other respiratory ailments

- The baby patient who was considered as the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Oriental Mindoro was finally discharged from the hospital

- The 1-year and 9-month old baby has already recovered from pneumonia and other respiratory ailments

- The child later yielded a negative result in her second laboratory test and was discharged on Friday

- She was home meds orally given, recommended 14 days quarantine in their house according to a statement of Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito A. Dolor

The one-year-and-nine-month-old child in Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, who was considered the youngest case in the country is finally discharged from the hospital. The baby patient who was discharged last Friday will be put under 14-day home quarantine.

In a report by Manila Bulletin, Oriental Mindoro Governor Humerlito A. Dolor revealed that the little girl was a survivor of pneumonia and other respiratory ailments, including dengue.

The child's second laboratory test yielded a negative result, thus she was sent home and was given home medicines recommended for 14 days.

According to DOH MIMAROPA, the patient who was called Patient 14, had a travel history in Muntinlupa prior to the Luzon-wide quarantine which was imposed on March 17.

Dolor added that the patient's specimen will be undergoing another test at the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) to confirm the result in compliance with a Department of Health’s protocol.

The governor thanked the doctors who took care of the patient and for effectively managing the child's illness.

Currently, there are eight remaining confirmed cases of COVID-19 in MIMAROPA (Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) with Marinduque having four COVID-19 positive cases; Occidental Mindoro, 2 and one each for Romblon and Palawan.
