President Rodrigo Duterte made a surprise televised nation address on Wednesday night.
KAMI learned that the President also issued a warning to leftist groups who criticize the distribution of goods during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
In a report by the Inquirer (authored by Darryl John Esguerra), President Duterte ordered the police and military to shoot the leftists who create “riots” and violate the ECQ guidelines.
“Huwag ninyong gamitin ang pwersa. I am addressing the left na ‘yung pambabastos ninyo ‘yung slamming about the distribution. Remember kayong mga left: You are not the government. Naintindihan ninyo ‘yan? Hindi kayo nasa gobyerno and you cannot be a part of what we are planning to do for the nation,” President Duterte said.
“Intindihin ninyo ‘yan. Kaya huwag kayong mag gawa ng kalokohan at mag-riot-riot diyan because I will order you detained at bibitawan ko kayo pagkatapos na wala na itong COVID,” he added.
According to a report by the Philippine Star (authored by Christina Mendez), the President said that the government is ready to challenge these leftists.
“Huwag ninyong subukan ang Pilipino. DO not try to test it. WE are ready for you, gulo o barilan or patayan, I will not hesitate (to tell) my soldiers to shoot you. I will not hesitate to order the police to arrest and detain you,” he said.
As reported by the GMA News Online, President Duterte assured the public that the relief goods will arrive even if it gets delayed.
"Ang pera, dadating. Ang pagkain dadating. Huwag lang kayong magulo para smooth. Sa Bisaya pa, hapsay. Ayaw og hadloka ang gobyerno. Do not intimidate government," he said.
"Do not challenge government. Matatalo kayo, sigurado. Magtiis na lang siguro kayo ng delayed delivery pero dadating yan. Hindi kayo mamamatay sa gutom,” he added.
In a previous report by KAMI, the Quezon City Police Department arrested about 20 residents of Sitio San Roque after they violated the ECQ guidelines and protested to ask for financial assistance and relief goods.
On March 17, 2020, President Rodrigo Duterte placed the entire Luzon on enhanced community quarantine as a part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
