- Senator Ramon Bong Revilla's male staff and longtime friend passed away on Sunday due to COVID-19
- According to Revilla, his friend had been with him since he was still in the showbiz
- The patient had no history of travel or exposure to known COVID-19 cases
- He was last seen at the Senate on March 16 when he returned to claim his salary
Senator Ramon Bong Revilla Jr. revealed in a statement that his staff who was initially diagnosed with pneumonia succumbed to death due to COVID-19.
Revilla said that this male staff had been with him for almost 30 years.
“I lost my staff and friend of almost 30 years to COVID-19 this afternoon. Everything was so fast and sudden. He has been with me mula sa pag-aartista—through the ups and downs, the thick and thin—tapos ngayon wala na siya," Revilla said in a statement on Sunday.
He earlier said that his staff member who was diagnosed with pneumonia was confined in a hospital in Imus, Cavite since March 22.
He had no history of travel or exposure to known COVID-19 cases.
However, on March 16, the patient claimed his salary at the Senate.
“Napakabilis ka namang kinuha sa amin, at ni huling pamamaalam, hindi namin puwedeng ibigay sa'yo. Napakasakit,” Revilla added.
Bong Revilla was first known as an actor and a television presenter. He became a Senator of the Philippines in 2004.
