- The number of fatalities also rose to 71, while there are 42 patients who have recovered already
The number of people in the Philippines who are infected with the dreadful novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is now 1,418.
KAMI learned that based on the latest update from the Department of Health (DOH), there are 343 new confirmed cases of the said virus today, March 29.
According to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, the sudden rise in the number of infected patients is mainly due to the enhanced testing that the department is conducting.
It can be remembered that thousands of kits have already arrived in the country so there are more people who are being tested for the fatal disease.
Meanwhile, the said department has recorded 3 more deaths today in relation to the novel coronavirus.
The total number of fatalities is now 71, while 42 infected patients have now recovered from the virus.

The novel coronavirus disease has claimed the lives of more than 30 thousand people in the world. It has been declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO).
