Son of Cebu doctor who died of COVID-19 tells of painful discrimination their family experienced

- The son of the Cebu doctor who recently died of COVID-19 took to Facebook to express his dismay on how their family was treated

- He recounted how people already 'killed his mom' on social media when she was still actually fighting for her life

- Their whole compound was also cordoned by policemen when they never breached the quarantine protocol

- While his family understands the fear and the panic, he asked if the heartless people even understand the fear that they were in, especially with both his parents admitted in the hospital

The country has lost another great doctor in the fight against the deadly coronavirus.

Dr. Helen Tudtud, a medical pathologist succumbed to the deadly COVID-19 on Friday evening, March 27.

She is one of the pillars of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).

At the age of 66, Dr. Tudtud died 11 days after she was admitted to the hospital.

Her son, Dennis Thomas Tudtud expressed his grief for losing his mother to Sars-CoV-2, the virus causing the disease COVID-19.

However, ín a heartbreaking post, Dennis relayed how his whole family experienced pain and discrimination while both of his parents, Helen, and her husband, were confined in the hospital due to coronavirus infection.

Dennis painfully recounts what transpired before his mother passed away.

He said that there were already rumors which circulated saying that his mom has died as early as March 18.

Some heartless people even posted it all over social media. My mother was still fighting to stay alive but people were already killing her! Do you know how painful it is to have both parents admitted and both in serious and guarded condition and yet you hear news saying that our mother has already died when she is still holding on and fighting to stay alive?

Dennis continued by saying that they do understand the fear, however, these people must understand that they are more panicky and in a fearful state.

He then lamented how the police came and cordoned their whole compound, which led Dennis to ask what was it for since they did not breach any quarantine protocol.

People treat us like some STATISTICS they see on Facebook or on the news. We are PEOPLE, too! It can happen to you and your family too.

He reiterated that they did not choose the virus and they didn't even know where his parents got it from.

"All I know is that MY HEART IS BREAKING and I can’t hug my sweet and loving MOMMY HELEN ever again."
