A doctor in Saudi Arabia suddenly broke down in tears after refusing his child to hug him due to his fear of transmitting the coronavirus to him since he was one of the frontliners.
In a viral video, a child was seen rushing to hug his father who was in his medical attire. But the Saudi doctor took a step back then stopped the kid to embrace him.
According to an article published online by Gulf News, a daily newspaper in the United Arab Emirates, the doctor is working at the King Salman Hospital in Riyadh.
"The aim of the clip was to make citizens and residents aware of hazards of the coronavirus and to comply with arrangements and instructions of the Health Ministry," the doctor, identified as Nasser Ali Al Shahrani, told Saudi newspaper Okaz.
He said he also sought to highlight the family life of health professionals after they finish their work and return home.
According to him, he usually calls his wife before going home and tells her to teach their children to stop welcoming him until he changes his medical uniform, sterilize his hands and has a shower.
"All colleagues should avoid approaching their children and families until they wash their hands and take the necessary precautions," Gulf News quoted Dr. Ali.
He added that all medical practitioners take off their protective gloves and face masks before leaving the hospital.
In a previous report by KAMI, TV host Ruby Rodriguez’s sister who is a doctor died due to COVID-19.
Medical staff, like Nasser Ali Al Shahrani, are considered as COVID-19 frontliners braving grave odds every day to combat the pandemic.
