1. The Department of Health (DOH) has recorded the Philippines’ highest number of new novel coronavirus cases in a single day. There are 96 new cases today, bringing the total number to 803.

2. It was confirmed through the latest update of the health department that there are nine newly-recorded fatalities due to COVID-19. The total number of patients who did not survive is now 54. Meanwhile, the number of recoveries also spiked to 31.

3. Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia announced on Thursday that the entire province will be placed under enhanced community quarantine or “lockdown” to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). She said that the province will no longer accept passengers arriving via international flights from any point in the world.

4. Karlo Nograles, the spokesperson of the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), debunked some alarming “fake news” on social media. He said that there is no military control happening during the quarantine period and there has been no announcement yet of an extended quarantine in Luzon.

5. A one-year-old baby becomes the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Oriental Mindoro. The said child had a travel history to Alabang, Muntinlupa City last March 5 to 12. The baby is now the youngest COVID-infected patient in the Philippines.

6. President Rodrigo Duterte will celebrate his 75th birthday under home quarantine. This is after he got exposed to people in Malacañang who got in contact with COVID-infected patients. Senator Bong Go said that the President will continue to work despite being on quarantine.

7. Famous Filipino designer Ito Curata has already passed away because of the novel coronavirus. He was 60 years old. He succumbed to pneumonia due to complications brought by the said virus.

8. Ellen Adarna generously opened her family hotel in Davao to house the persons under investigation (PUI) in the said place. It was Davao Vice Mayor Baste Duterte who first contacted the actress’ family about opening one of their establishments for the PUIs.

9. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Felimon Santos Jr. confirmed to the public that he has tested positive for COVID-19. Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana will also undergo 14-day quarantine because he got in contact with the AFP chief.

10. Manny Pacquiao has finally turned over more than 50 thousand test kits to several big hospitals in mainland Luzon. The test kits were donated by Chinese billionaire Jack Ma. The said business tycoon will also donate 500 thousand face masks.
