Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Felimon Santos Jr. confirmed that he tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

KAMI learned that Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana received the confirmation of Santos on Friday morning.

In a report by ABS-CBN News, the AFP chief received the result of his COVID-19 test on Thursday.

"This morning I was informed by CSAFP Gen Santos that he tested positive of the COVID19 - the result he got yesterday," Lorenzana said.

According to the Philippine Star, the Defense Secretary will be on a 14-day self-quarantine despite not having symptoms because he was exposed to AFP chief Santos.

"I had close proximity with him (Santos) on 2 occasions: in VAB during the turn over of medical supplies to me last Sunday p.m, 21 Mar, and again last Monday afternoon 22 March, here in GHQ and at the Heroes Hall, Malacañang,” Lorenzana said.

"I have no symptoms but protocol says I have to self-quarantine for 14 days," he added.

As reported by CNN Philippines, the entire Presidential Security Group (PSG) in Malacañang will go on quarantine as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus disease.
